Bios

Ilana Ellenberg is a junior art history major at Johns Hopkins. Hailing from New York City, she travels to Israel whenever possible. She spent a year in Israel in between her senior year of high school and freshman year of college, studying at Hebrew University in Jerusalem and doing community service in Be'er Sheva. As a sophomore, she was the first Grinspoon Israel Advocacy Intern at Hopkins, and this year she is a co-President of CHAI. iellenb1@jhu.edu

Ariana Tart-Zelvin, a native Texan, is a junior at Johns Hopkins majoring in Neuropsychology and Neuroscience. She has visited Israel numerous times with family, friends, and classmates. With a sister currently in Israel getting her masters in Israeli Society and Politics at Hebrew University, she can't wait to go back for a visit! At Hopkins, Ariana is tutor in the Tutorial program while also working in the Psychiatry Department at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. She joined CHAI as a freshman and is currently a co-President of CHAI. atartze1@jhu.edu

Leora Brody is a junior from Rockland Country, NY majoring in International Studies and pursuing a minor in Entrepreneurship and Management. She has had strong familial connections to Israel all her life; her mother was born there and many of her family members still live there. Leora has been involved with CHAI since the beginning of her freshman year, served as treasurer last year, and is currently Vice President. lbrody3@jhu.edu      

Jamie Edwards is a native New Jersey-er, is a sophomore at Johns Hopkins University and is also the CHAI treasurer! When she is not managing out money and writing grants, she's traveling to Israel. Jamie enjoys her summers in Israel volunteering with The Forgotten People Fund, and Magen David Adom as a certified Emergency Medical Technician. She also enjoys long walks on the beach... in Tel Aviv, obviously! jedwards128@yahoo.com      

Aliza Fishbein grew up in a conservative home and attended the Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School in Rockville, Maryland. Last year she studied abroad at the Alexander Muss Institute for Israel Education in Hod Hasharon, Israel and this past summer she lived in Jerusalem on her own and interned with Member of Knesset Binyamin Elon. She currently works for the Knesset Christian Allies Caucus. At Hopkins she is a member of Alpha Phi, Public Health Student Forum, Women's Varsity Fencing, Hopkins Hosting Society, Blue Key Society, and is the Secretary of CHAI. Brooke Katz is a sophomore from New York, double majoring in Earth and Planetary Sciences and Near Eastern Studies. She loves Israel, and travels there as often as possible! This year she serves on the CHAI board as the Grinspoon Intern, and as the liaison to the Jewish Students Association Board. Aside from CHAI, she is also a member of the Hopkins Women's Varsity Fencing Team, the Blue Key Society, and CRASH (Creating Responsible Adolescent Sexual Health). bkatz8@jhu.edu
